When you configure the script, you have 2 mandatory values that will appear in the GA report: category - I recommend you to choose a suggestive name , by which to identify the element or action you are following (eg Link, Video, CTA). you see in the GA report. the action - choose a clear and suggestive name such as click, play, schedule, contact, etc. I recommend you to also use the label value , even if it is an optional value. It helps you distinguish elements from the same category and action.
In the example above, I set the label "Estimate" for clicks on the email address [email protected] and "Support" for clicks on the email address suport GA-report-event (1) When creating the above script, I chose to Phone Number Data name the event category "Link", the action "Email" and the label "Estimate". I could just as well put 3 other words that are relevant to me and help me identify what the user clicked on when I look in the GA reports. 4.
Verification of the created event After creating the script and inserting it into the site, you will need to wait about a day to see the clicks in the GA reports from the section shown in the image above. My recommendation is to use the "Real Time" report, where you will be able to see data from the last 30 minutes. Thus, if you have implemented the script correctly, this report will return you at least 1 click. In the image below, you can see the click I made on the email address , after adding the code.
